Londolozi Game Reserve is a private luxury safari destination located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, right next to Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa. It was established in 1926 and has grown from a hunting farm into a conservation-focused sanctuary.
On-site amenities include private plunge pools, en-suite bathrooms, dining options, laundry services, and small curio shops, but there are no banks, ATMs, fuel stations, or conference facilities, so guests need to plan accordingly.
Guests can do morning and evening game drives, guided bush walks, bird watching, and photography workshops, all led by experienced guides.
The main draw at Londolozi is the wildlife, particularly its reputation for leopards and the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos.
Safety is important—guests must stay within designated areas, follow guides’ instructions, and avoid feeding monkeys or baboons. Check-in is usually from 12:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM, with late arrivals needing prior notice. Fires are restricted to designated areas, and although the area is low-risk for malaria, it’s best to consult a doctor before travelling. Visitors may also encounter insects, spiders, scorpions, snakes, and bushbuck, and the reserve follows strict conservation practices to protect the environment while providing a close-up safari experience.
The reserve is about 450–500 kilometres from Johannesburg, which takes roughly 5.5 to 7 hours by car.
Visitors can access it through several gates into Sabi Sand, including Shaws, Newington, and Gowrie.
